Philological notes on «David».

«David», a play o f an unknown poet from the island of Chios, was staged by Spyros A. Evangelatos in 1980. This study constits of fourty-three philological notes concerning the edition: Αγνώστου Χίου ποιητή «Δαβίδ», Ανέκδοτο διαλογικό στιχούργημα Ανεύρεση-ΚριτικήΈκδοση Θωμά I. Παπαδόπουλου, Εταιρεία Σπουδών Νεοελληνικού Πολιτισμού και Γενικής Παιδείας (Ιδρυτής: Σχολή Μωραΐτη), αρ. 8, Αθήνα, 1979. The publication also comprises the manuscript, which has undergone palaographic control and comparison. The main interest is focused on the initial two verses (note 1) which, most likely, do not belong to the same author, on the title of the play, as well as on the absense of Preface (note 2). Certain notes are also dedicated to David’s sin and the fragmentation o f the scenes (note 3), to the propagandistic aspect given to the play by the Catholics of Chios (notes 4-5) and to the coded notes that follow the text and appear to have been written by three different authors (note 43).The remaining notes are corrective and attempt to re-establish the meaning and the metre of the text.

Χιώτικο θέατρικό έργο

Το σύντομο αυτό μελέτημα είχε γραφτεί το 1980 και επρόκειτο να περιληφθεί στο Τεύχος-Πρόγραμμα του Αμφι-Θεάτρου, όταν παρουσίασε για πρώτη φορά το έργο, στα εγκαίνια του «Ομήρειου Πνευματικού Κέντρου» Χίου (1/11/1980). Τελικά ο συγγραφέας του μελετήματος (και σκηνοθέτης της παράστασης) έκρινε ότι δεν έπρεπε τότε να δημοσιευθεί. Πρωτοπαρουσιάζεται τώρα.
