Parallel Title:
The anti-conformist esthetic theory in the dramatic works of M. Valsas
Abstract:
As an historian of modern grcck theatre, a theorist of modern drama or as a playwright, M. Valsas, never hesitates to attack any conformist spirit, or any esthetic theory representing a tendency to «dominate» theatre by imposing inflexible laws. His plays, either drama or comedy, represent openly and directly, the ideas of the esthetic freedom which he promotes. The author prooves his non-conformist position by the following means: 1) By qualifying his plays following non esthetic terms, 2) By denying any dramatic unravelling, 3) By using astonishing dramatic prologues, 4) By magnifying the scenic space 5) By travesting the sexes 6) By using masks.
