Abstract:
The present paper consists of a detailed presentation of folklore archives that exist in Greece, in universities and research centres. The writer analyzes and goes into detail regarding questions of collection of ethnographic material and the appropriate way to deposit such material in archives and its correct use. He also considers questions of evaluation both of the material and ofthe method of collection of the material. The paper compares all these questions are compared with the directions taken by similar foundations for the study of folk culture in other European countries and the USA.
