Abstract:
The article deals in detail with the progress and gradual development of folklore, as it was taught, realized and promoted during the period from the founding of the Chair of Folklore, which was contemporary with the founding of the School of Philosophy at Ioannina itself, in 1964, to the early 21 st c. The article also sketches the particular character of the folklore school of Ioannina, which is notable for its greater determination to link the phenomena of folklore to prevailing historical, social and economic conditions and to the broadening subject matter of the discipline.
