The paper deals with the manner in which Greek folklorists, such as Megas, Spyridakis, Oikonomidis and Loukatos, reflected on the relations betweenfolklore and the study and language and literature in Greece (including foreign scholars). The final section of the article records several hundred relevant works dealing with the period between antiquity and the present.
