Excavation research in the Polichni (Lebet) table during 2009
During 2009 a rescue excavation research was held by the 16th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities in two plots located at the NE part of the archaeological site of Polichni (Lebet table). The archaeological deposits brought to light in the first plot, on the edge of the table, date from the early phases of EIA until the archaic period, whereas the deposits found in the second plot date from the EIA until the 4th century B.C. A few EIA walls and pits were discovered in such a fragmentary condition that we cannot figure out their particular use. Remains of houses and five wells, dated in the archaic period, were also discovered. A wall which enclosed the settlement was constructed in the last phases. The 2009 rescue excavations in Polichni reinforced our knowledge about the organization of the ancient settlement concerning not only about its social stru cture but also about its households.
