Abstract:
The article draws upon statistics to discuss in great detail the question of how folk culture is represented in current textbooks at primary level and how the material is distributed over the various courses taught. The writer discusses what might be termed “a partial loss of a more general cultural orientation", so that “a cultural crisis" is now emerging. This is due not so much to what may be a small degree of representation of folk culture in school books, as to an increasing indifference on the part of school students.
