Abstract:
Primarily, the study assesses the determinants of non-oil import demand inNigeria. This is aimed at measuring the relative strengths and nature of effects ofthe variablesthat determine Nigeria’s non-oil import demand, and subsequentlyassessing the extent to which results are in conformity with those previouslyobtained on a wider aggregate of the Nigerian economy. An econometric methodof analysis was employed. Results indicate deviations from the findings of earlierstudies, as two key variables previously reported as significant (real exchangerate and real income) showed insignificant causational relationships in the model.
