Abstract:
This paper examines and analyzes the idea of the Greek nation from themiddle to the end of the nineteenth century. This article argues that Greeknationhood evolved away from a primarily cultural or ethnic type of nationalism and towards a mainly civic or political nationalism between the 1860s and 1890s.
