Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze the impact thatRigas Velestinlis’ revolutionary plans had on the Greeks living at the townof Zemun located on the border between the Habsburg and the OttomanEmpire. The author of the study claims that the supporters of Rigas representeda wide band of the social spectrum, for they were not only teachers andscholars, but also capable merchants who enjoyed considerable 'mandaiprominence and an enviable social position.
