This paper gives an overview of the reception of Kalvos’s poetry bymodern Greek criticism, between the years 1818-1960. Anumber of issues,pertinent to the subject, are presented in the context of the reader-responsecriticism theory; more specifically, the material is viewed through the theoreticalframework introduced by Hans Robert Jauss in his celebrated essay“Literary history as a challange to literary theory”.
