Abstract:
In 1997 drainage canals were excavated on the farm of Veloni. In one of them, which crosses the area of Hortolivado (formerly Sazli Tsa'fr), graves werediscovered.Seventy-six of them date to the end of the 6th - 1st half of the 5th c. BC, and agroup of nineteen burials, which were found north of the former, dates to the end ofthe 7th - beginning of the 5th c. BC. We therefore believe that the fourth cemeteryof the Klazomenians at Abdera has been located. The hypothesis is also put forwardthat 6th - 5th c. BC graves excavated this year belong to the first colonists, whocontinued to live at Abdera even after the advent of the Teians and buried theirdead in the same area.
