Archaeological activity at Potidaia in 1993 focused on two sectors. One was the Pehlivanidis plot on the S edge of the village, where investigations continued with the removal of the baulks and the digging of exploratory sections. Apart from the characteristics of the Hellenistic and Roman layers that had already been ascertained in previous years, an important discovery was layers from the Archaic period, which is an era from which we hitherto had no excavational data in Potidaia. The second sector encompassed an extensive area S of the village, where the remains of some large Hellenistic buildings were uncovered.
