Abstract:
An interesting and important city is being excavated at the table, the so-called «King’s tumulus» at Kypsele of Emathia. The results of the excavation that has started since 1988 are the following: A Hellenistic private house and an altar were discovered at the northern terrace of the «tumulus» in 1988.A workshop with significant finds was found south of the table in 1989.In 1990 the cemetery of the city was located 1.5 km. from the table and 15 tile covered graves were excavated. A significant building (15x9.70 m.) with walls coated with plaster and interesting finds was discovered in 1991 at the northern terrace. Finally, the fragment of a roof-tile stamped with ΠΥΔΝ... implies the trade contacts between ancient Pydna and the city we are excavating.
