The five-year project ‘Crossing Pindus: Passages and defense’ was carried out in the period of 2002-2006 by the Department of History, Archaeology and Social Anthropology of the University of Thessaly, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and the writer’s direction. After Pindus’ project we planned a similar one for Olympus mount (2008-10) and specially in the area of north Perrhaibia, part of the Elassona prefecture. First period carried out in July of2008. We investigated mainly the Sarantaporos-Porta passage, where we managed to locate wheel-ruts of the ancient road. Furthermore we investigated some ancient sites in the region from Sarantaporos village to Livadi and Pythion.
