The embellishment of the Ammon Zeus’ sanctuary archaeological site

The Sanctuary of Zeus Ammon at Kallithea of Chal- cidice came to light in 1969. The site was bought by the Greek State and remained open to the public without any care of its presentation to the public. Between 2006- 08 a project financed by the European Union and the Greek State and aiming at the enhancement of the site was carried out.The project included various activities necessary for the presentation of the archaeological site to the visitors:additional excavation that brought to light antiquities, which completed the history of the sanctuary, tables which provide information about the sanctuary and its monuments, corridors for the circulation of the visitors within the site and constructions which served their needs (W.C. etc.). Finally, an open theater of a metal framework and wooden seats was built for performances or other activities that can take place within the site.
