Abstract:
Recent research conducted under the auspices of the 3rd Ephorate of Classical Antiquities in the environs of the Athenian Kerameikos yielded the fragments of a decorated MPG/LPG clay tray. This article presents the find in its context, examining aspects of its form, fucntion, decoration and date. The Ermou street tray ranges among the earliest and finest examples in Protogeometric Athens. The scarcity of the shape in Attica and the interesting decoration of the tray, calls for a study of comparative material from Crete, Corinth, Euboia and the Aegean.
