The rescue excavation in 2002 at Nea Kallikratia in Halkidiki took place at three fields located in the ancient settlement. Two public buildings were found, one close to the seaward fortification and the other in the center of the settlement, dating to the first half of the 4th century BC. Also an underground structure was excavated with pottery dating from the 8th till the 5th century BC., a part of a road, pits of various sizes and graves. The pottery originates from local workshops or it is imported, with the Athenian production to excel from the Late Archaic period to the 4th century BC.
