Over the excavation period in the years 2004-2006 the search in the area of the Asclepius sanctuary was completed. At the eastern part of the temple two rooms of a stoa of the empire period were brought to light, which were built upon Hellenistic architectural remnants.In 2006 another excavation began at an intact area, behind the shops and workshops of the main road of the city; the objective of this search was 1) to clarify the function of three Hellenistic walls of considerable length and width, which ran parallel to the main road, and parts of which had been discovered earlier, 2) to check the sequence of the construction phases west of the main road.Due to the present excavation the evidence collected up to the present point so far regarding the Hellenistic town of Dion was put together in a systematic way-viz. architectural and other relics dated prior to the foundation of the Roman colony.
