Abstract:
In 2006 a salvage excavation was carried out on a prehistoric settlement in the hilly region of Trilofo in Imathia Prefecture, amidst the rural surroundings of the Kolibakos stream. According to the current evidence, this settlement dates from the Late Neolithic period. The new site lies within the arc of settlements that runs along the foothills of Mt. Vermion, though its original extent remains unknown. Evidence of the settlement’s internal organisation is scant (a stone-paved area, vaulted channel, pits, oval stone structures, hearths and storage jars), while amongst the typical pottery types that were found (open angular pots with flat bases) of particular note are a number of black-rimmed pots and others with glossy black surfaces.
