The rescue excavation in 2001 at Nea Kallikratia in Halkidiki mainly focused on two plots of land on the site of the E cemetery of the ancient settlement. Thirty-four burials were investigated, dating to between the Early Iron Age and the Late Classical period and yielding a bronze bin, clay vessels, bronze jewellery, and other objects of everyday use. It was also possible to venture some initial hypotheses about the organisation of the cemetery and the burial customs (modes of burial and burial rites).
