Abstract:
The relationship between poetry and architecture is not obvious, although we often refer to the poetics of architecture or to the architecture of poetry. The use of words has first and foremost a metaphorical significance. But beyond that, the words and the meaning which they bear is the preferred material of poetry in contrast to architecture, where materials of construction are inert and the forms they acquire can bear the expressive intent of the architect, but they also result from the needs and functions they are called to serve. However, the insistence of many architects to recall poetry when they want to interpret their work and vice versa the reference to architecture and the city in poetry give us common ground to investigate the relationships that will ultimately enrich the way we perceive these two arts.
