In this paper, an attempt is made towards the approximation of postmodern concepts as met in contemporary poetry, or expressed in concomitant* theoretical essays. This preliminary study is primarily focused on the author’s personal views, who is also a poet endeavouring to assimilate the claritas category of pulchritudo in her poems. This very category, along with the remaining two, integritas and proportio, are encountered in Medieval Aesthetics, together with the conception of the unicorn as a mythical beast, a fabulous rare creature, and a symbol of purity and light-centred lyric inspiration. In this paper, a comparative intermingling of these very elements is attempted, in order to investigate new ways of poetical expression. The paper concludes that on the threshold of the 21st century, when postmodernism started to prevail in poetry, a light-oriented thematology and/or mode of expression by poets (conforming to the principles of deconstructionism) seems more modern than even modernism itself.
