The writer deals with an innovatory religious behavior related to contemporary metaphysical perceptions. This involves the construction of shrines at the sides of roads, where deadly accidents have taken place. The writer classifies the shrines on the basis of the information that they provide. This includes biographical data of the dead person, “words” of the dead, “conversations” between the dead and those still living, songs for the dead, inscriptions and poems. Comment is also made about the construction and decoration of the shrines.
