Abstract:
In the first few months of 1971 the archaeological investigations were continued in the Cave Alepotrypa and the surrounding area of the Gulf of Dirou, while at the same time details were examined for the plan of thewhole of the inside of the Cave (plan 1 ).The archaeological study of the inside of the Alepotrypa was accomplished of the sections of Room B as well as of the areas farther into the inside of the Cave, with notably significant results.Of the finds worthy of note which came to light in Room B is the discovery of a large hearth and near it of two large circular bothroi III and IV, with closed rims, for the deposit and preservation of food (figs. 1 - 5 ). Thus the recently found four bothroi inside the same Room B,and the other three which were formerly discovered by cave specialists, are evidence that there exist also many other similar ones in the whole cave, a fact which will be of decisive help, so that a full investigation and study will be possible of the kind of equipment and a recognition of its use, by an examination of the original contents fortunately remaining.
