Abstract:
The most important news from this site are briefly as follows : The archaeological finds of Aghios Dimitrios and those of a recently excavated Geometric ( ? ) burial are on exhibition in the library of the association « Eugenius the Aetolian » in Karpenisi. New finds (fig. 1,2) from the hill and especially painted pottery ( A2, plan 1 ) show that the region of Karpenisi may have been influenced by the civilization of Epirus ( Dakaris, Kastritsa, ΠΑΕ 1951, ρ. 173-183 and 1952, ρ. 362 - 386, category IV ) and generally by the Lausitz culture. The backward character of the place creates serious problems for the chronology of the prehistoric finds. The painted pottery ( about 45 sherds ) divided into dark-on-dark and dark- on-light ware presents also a few similarities with that of Boubousti ( W. Heurtley, BSA, XXVIII ( 1927 - 28 ), p. 158 sq.).
