Abstract:
Two bronze pins are on display in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens: their inventory number is 14389. These two pins have a very peculiar form as well as a decorative pattern, typical of the bronze pins made in north Italian metallurgical laboratories of the 13th and 12th centuries BC. Their decoration has a formation of three couples of wraps immediately after the head and another at the lowest part of the body. Their head is made of a double spiral motive. Similar specimens have been found at theTerramara villages of Peschiera, Peschiera Imboccatura del Mincio, Gorzano, Bor di Pacengo, Garda. Following the European chronological tables these artifacts are dated to the central European Bz D period, to the north Italian Br R 1, 2 and to the Aegean LH IIIB-C. The origin of the two bronze, spiraliform pins of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens is the vast Po river valley. They are products of the vast Terramara metallurgical activity of the Italian Late Bronze Age.
