Abstract:
Radiographic examination of anti- technology may be used to solve archaeoquities is one example of how modern logical diagnostic problems. This radiographic examination was done on the statue of Hermes in two places, the lower part of the torso and the right knee, because there was no accurate information about the metal inserts placed inside the statue many years ago.In view of the planned transfer of the statue to the new museum and the need for an evaluation of how the statue would stand up to earthquake shocks, a static study based on accurate information was indispensable. The two sections of the statue of Hermeswere radiographed by means of a cobalt-60 irradiation source. This paper gives:1. Information about the method used, i.e. technical means and the radio- graphic parameters.2. Number, position, dimensions and character of the metal clamps. As a result of this work we obtain a clear view of the sections examined in the interior of the statue and an example of how radiography solves diagnostic problems in antiquities of marble.
