Abstract:
Spyros A. Evangelatos is presenting in this paper a document entitled "Unfrocking of priest for comedy-writing", regarding the “mean-reverend” Demetrios, who mocked, abused and offended the Christians of his time in several ways and also by composing poems and satires with insulting and mocking content. The author (Evangelatos) proves that the parts of this document which seem to indicate some theatrical use cannot be actually related to any real theatrical activity but are only rhetorical expressions underlining the wretchedness of the unfrocked priest who is described as a vile comedian. Theatrical life in Trikala during the 18th century is unthinkable.
