Abstract:
The Middle Helladic pithos burial, published here, was uncovered at Thebes, in the Pavloyannopoulos property on Daglaridou street, opposite the south slopeof the hill M. Kastelli and outside the Kadmeian acropolis. The pithos was found lying down directly on the bed - rock in a shallow cavity specially cut to receive it. No walls or floors were found in the property, so obviously the pithos was not an intramural burial, which is so common in the Middle Helladic period. It contained a few bones of a child, an early Minyan goblet and three small clay balls.
