Abstract:
Antiquities dating to Christian times have been uncovered in the village of Kallithea in Chalcidice, on the site of the sanctuary of Ammon Zeus. These were : a ) Architectural members of an early Christian basilica (fig. 4), presently incorporated into the retaining walls of the old metochi of the Monastery of Hagios Panteleimon, b ) The ruins of a middle Byzantine one-aisled basilica (4.05x2.70), whose, foundations overlay the cave of the shrine of the Nymphs and Dionysus (figs. 1 - 3 ). Further, we noted the existence of a church with one aisle, a narthex and a vaulted roof, decorated with wall - paintings in the Neo - classical style, dating to the second half of the 19th century (fig. 5 ).
