The uknown tale by Alex. Papadiamantis entitled “The trunk by the beach” has been pubished in the newspaper Patrida of Athens on December the 25th, 1905. It is announced as a Christmas tale, on the grounds that the last episode described in it is supposed to take place on Christmas Eve. “The trunk by the beach” displays the usual potraying of characters inspired by life in the Greek countryside, typical of Papadiamantis’ narrative.
