Abstract:
In his work Commentary to the first Book of Euclid, Neoplatonic philosopher Proclus formulates mathematical arguments in an epistemologie way. The present aritele analyses these arguments in a view to exploring Proclus’ theoretical positions on the Philosophy of Mathematics. Relying upon the scientific and philosophical thinking of his predecessors (Presocratics, Plato, Aristotle etc.), Proclus offers an important contribution to the theoretical foundations of mathematic thought, combining ontological arguments with logical demonstration.
