Abstract:
This article is part of a research on the radio adaptations of Jacovos Kambanellis. The first part presents the characteristics of radio play in general, the radio codes and approaches the theory and the techniques of Radio adaptation. The second part focuses on three specific adaptations, “Blood Wedding” of Lorca, “Henry IV, Part one” of Shakespeare and “Le Barbier de Séville” of Beaumarchais. Through the analysis of the techniques and strategies used by Kambanellis, we examine the way he deals with the restrictions of the medium, as well as the inevitable recontextualisation of the original play.
