Provinces and Provincial Administrators in the Greek State (1848-1849)

The study is based on an official table of Administrators of the 49 provinces of the Modem Greek State instituted by a law of 1845. This table lists all the names of Provincial Administrators for the year 1848-1849, accompanied with observations on their background, their integrity, their administrative competences and their loyalty to central government. In essence, this study goes on to sow the deficiencies and structural flaws of a highly centralized administration in mid-19th century Greece.
