Popular ecclesiastical stone-curving in Samos

The author presents and describes various works of popular stone-curving that decorate many churches and monasteries of Samos. By means of a thorough analysis, he determines the various schools of popular artists and the different techniques they used to achieve their goals. He thus succeeds in showing the importance of folk art for understanding and preserving Greek popular tradition, which constitutes a major cultural vector in contemporary Greece.
