The author, through a series of characteristic anecdotes, sketches the personal relationship of friendship and mutual esteem between two major Modern Greek writers, Ioannis Kondylakis and Alexandras Papadiamantis. Kondylakis, joyful, plethoric and sometimes hilarious, contrasted with melancholic, idealist and frugal Papadiamantis; nevertheless, their friendship was a solid one, based on common ideals and literary sensibilities.
