Penthera, the work of the Latin poet Terence, was published in translation, for the first time completed, by Solomos’ friend and writer of Vasilikos, Antonios Matesis. A part of this work had been published by Marieta Giannopoulou, but her work was never completed since the journal where this work was published ceased its release. The present edition revises many mistakes of that first attempt, it includes an enlightening introduction with reference to its history, the language of its age and its relation to the original work of Antonios Matesis. It is also accompanied by a glossary. Another interesting point is the knowledge level of the latin language at Ionian islands, as well as the translating style of the creator of this translation.
