The foreign repertoire of the Greek theatre in the years of the Dictatorship and the political changeover (1962-1982) : some statistical points

The article can be regarded as the necessary continue of our previous project on the foreign repertoire in Greek Post War Theatre (1945-1967), published in the Proceedings of the Second Greek Theatrological Conference (2002). It uses statistical tools and methods to project the modulation of the theatre during the period 1967-1982, that is, though out the years of the Greek Dictatorship and the first years of the political changeover. It takes into consideration the main streams of the repertoire flow in Greek companies (English and American theatre, French theatre, etc), the most energetic companies in Greek theatre of the era (National Theatre, Koun’s Art Theatre, etc), and, also, some typical methodological tools suitable for the qualitative assessment of the repertoire. It concludes in some interesting first results, among others, on the participation of the “old” and “new” drama in the repertoire of the period, on the (hesitant) entrance of the European and American avant-garde, or on the rise of new companies in the Greek stage.
