Abstract:
The author presents certain unpublished documents concerning the completion of the works of the Legislative Committee formed on the 1st of January 1835 and presided by the former Minister of Justice Christodoulos Clonaris to serve as a law-drafting body, advising the Government. Although the Legislative Committee was called to draft a Civil Code for Greece, based on the French Code Civil, as well as a Commercial Code adapted from the French Code de Commerce, it never succeded in compiling these two laws owing to over-work. So, after the formation of the Council of State (Conseil d’ État), by law destined to compile and discuss law-drafts, the Legislative Comittee in fact (though not actually) resigned its commission in 1836.
