Abstract:
The author publishes and comments on the photographic material which resulted from a research conducted in the years 1999-2000 and pertaining to the marble bell-towers that ornate the Greek Orthodox churches of the island of Samos. The description and dating, but also the esthetical evaluation of twenty-eight bell-towers, followed by their respective photographs, is an important contribution to the study of traditional marble and stone sculpture in the Aegean.
