The author criticizes a handbook of History for the 1st class of Greek Lykeion (4th class of the secondary education), entitled The European Civilization and its Roots. Having it thoroughly read, he highlights its numerous errors, both formal and substantial, which range from historical inaccuracies to ideological contradictions and from misprints to sloppy cross-referencing. The fact that this book has been written by University professors and lecturers makes its errors all the more unforgivable, and is a token of the degradation of public education and especially of the teaching of History, that is supposed to be one of the most important educational endeavors.
