Hesiod in Classic and Late Greek Poetic Tradition (7th cent. BC - 6th cent. AD) : Eight Poems form the “Greek Anthology” Dedicated to the Great Ascraean
Author:
Abstract:
The author presents, translates and comments eight epigrams from the “Greek Anthology” whose subject is the life and works of the great epic poet Hesiod. These epigrams, composed either by famous ancient Greek poets, such as Alcaeus, or by less known ones (or altogether anonymous), show the great popularity and respectability Hesiod enjoyed throughout ancient Greek literary history, from 7th century BC to 6th century AD.
