Abstract:
The author explores the various descriptions and interpretations of songs written either by adults for children or by children themselves, or of adult songs appropriated by children, presenting the views of scholars such as Kyriakidis, Meraklis and Chukovsky. As a result, she stresses the preeminence of sound combinations over the meaning of the verses, invoking as an example the nonsensical songs sung by children all over the world, which present astonishing similarities in spite of linguistic and cultural barriers.
