Can Chaos theory predict the future?

Abstract:
According to the Pre-Socratic philosophers, the harmony of the cosmos is the product of the balance between chaos and order. Contemporary Physics has reformulated this intuitive principle, holding that Chaos is a dynamic situation connected to disorder and increased entropy and characterized by unpredictability and by sensible dependence of its course on the initial circumstances. In other words, modern Chaos Theory cannot predict the future as such, but it can help us distinguish some recurrent organizing patterns, based on the alternation between chaotic and orderly periods. The author applies this principle to Greek political developments from 1974 to 2000 and predicts that this period of order (discernible in the pattern of the electoral behavior of the two major Greek political formations, conservative and progressive) is now over: a new chaotic period is bound to commence, so that a new order be established later.
