The Mariupol State University of the Humanities as a center of renaissance of Hellenism in Ukraine

The author presents the important contribution of the Mariupol State University of Humanities to the development of classical and Modern Greek studies in Ukraine and in the broader area of the former USSR. Being of Greek descent himself, he describes the Greek presence and cultural influence in the area since the Antiquity and up to the modern times and highlights the role of the MSUH, of which he is the rector, in strengthening this influence by means of innovative educational programs and initiatives.
