Abstract:
This study explores the attitudes of students towards children with chronic illnesses. A total of 628 students in the fifth and sixth grade from the primary schools of Crete participated in this study. For the collection of the beliefs of the children, a questionnaire was given by the researcher. The results from this study indicate that children's attitudes were positive towards children with chronic illnesses. Differences were observed between girls and boys. Girls were more positive than boys. Also the students of the sixth grade were more positive than students of fifth grade. However, we must notice that the positive attitudes are expressing the emotions of compassion towards the sick child and not a willingness to co-exist with these children.
