Abstract:
This paper presents a small field survey that was motivated by the authors' common educational experience from the Hellenic Open University (H.O.U.). The aim of this survey is to investigate barriers to distance learning and more specifically some particular issues related to student supporting procedures that are implemented in H.O.U. Initially, the theoretical background is given, followed by the description of the methodology and the sample that were used. Next, the results of the survey are presented and discussed and the paper concludes with some proposals.
