Abstract:
The an daimtheir of motivation the study wa sdoing to investigate: school work,a) and the relationshipb) the relationship between between children's motivation self-conceptand school performance.Our sample consisted of 423 urban primary school pupils attending 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. Harter's Self - Perception Profile for Children was employed to measure children's self-concept while children's motivational orientation was measured by a questionnaire based on Harter's Scale of Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Orientation in the Classroom. Our results show that children's self-concept is related to the orientation of motivation which motivate them to do their school work. Results also show that both self-concept and motivational orientation predict children's school performance in a significant way.
