Abstract:
Many preschools and kindergarten classes have computers in the classroom now. A number of issues are discussed in the light of research findings from the international field with regard to the psychosocial development of young children. Through a concise review of the relevant literature we present the main topics that have arisen both by the supporters as well as the opponents of computers' introduction into the early childhood class. It is underlined that children's access to the benefits of computer use is contingent upon teachers' skill in using and integrating developmental appropriate technology that suits both the developmental characteristics of young children and the goals of preschool education.
